Dear Reader,

As if under a microscope, Lena A. Lien observes the coming of age of little Bruno, lets him grow up cheerfully and lightheartedly in the rural foothills near a major Bavarian city, and in his coming of age recognizes the special nature of his relationships. The author sometimes defuses the often coarse lust in the countryside with a mischievous wink, letting Bruno babble naively and unsuspectingly about incest, lustful licentiousness and breaking taboos. The tension mounts as the author slowly zooms out with a microscope toward the end of her narrative and, with increasing distance, we see a Bruno who - like Laocoon fatally entangled in the latticework of his time - is desperately fighting for his life. An erotic-pornographic narrative.
